Katrina Satellite ViewSuperdome Damage

This is a picture of the damage to the Superdome. It was designed to withstand 200mph winds, but has never been tested - until now. Sustained winds were 145mph, with higher gusts. The Superdome kept displaced residents safe, but the roof sustained heavy damage. Because there was no running water in the dome, conditions deteriorated rapidly. Imagine having 5000-10,000 people in the same place - all of whom have basic needs, that can't be met. Imagine that same space 5 days later. That makes the Superdome the world's largest outhouse. Officials now say it will probably be torn down.
